For Unto Us...

A beautiful thing was born. Introducing my new play toy. The 15" MacBook Pro. Some have asked if God exists. Please. Of coarse there is a God. He created this.

Mind Yo' Manners

The recent outbursts by Kanye, Serena, and Joe Wilson has got me thinking. Where the hell have all the manners gone? Since when did forgoing politeness become acceptable, applauded, and now defended? I'm not claiming perfection in the manners department by any means; however, I've become frustrated with ladies and gents acting like trolls and swine (two things I detest). Now I'm not going to be calling any of these people "jackasses" but give me a break!

Despite the distain I feel toward these people (even Joe- Although...remember how much press the men and women who booed President Bush during the last playing of "Hail to the Chief" or during Senate meetings got? Ya, neither do I- BUT both sides were/are completely out of line), a comment at the end of one of the news articles written on the recent lack of manners pointed out, "What if we allow their behavior to inspire civility in the rest of us? Instead of complaining about their past actions, we can take on the burden of shaping a better society by pledging to be civil. Or, is it just easier to complain and criticize the behavior of others? So my question is what can each of us do as an individual to reduce abusive speech and violent acting out in within our own sphere of influence?"

So, blogging world, politeness counts. I am just at as much fault as the next blogger, and will try, really try, to be polite and respectful of other people's views and opinions. I understand how manners might seem fake and pretentious- and wouldn't ever recommend that people silence feelings or thoughts they firmly believe in that may offend others- (the wicked take the truth to be hard??) but there is a level of decency and politeness that MUST be adhered to when expressing yourself- and as was pointed out by a friend, it must be appropriate timing, appropriate setting, appropriate in general. We need to mind our manners, even and especially when reminding other to do the same!

VMA Rundown

Last night the 2009 MTV Video Movie Awards was held in NYC. It was a night to remember for several reasons...
He hosted. Who the H is this guy? Give me a break? Him and Alexis whatshername should leave MTV the hell alone! Being overtly perverted is his specialty- and that's it.
The night started off with her giving a tribute to MJ where she said they were the same about a billion times, "We both were born in August. We both were famous. We both are um... blah blah blah."
But then there was an amazing dance tribute to some of MJ's greatest hits.
Finishing with Janet on stage.
She was there wearing this in the crowd:
This on stage:
And this to accept her award:
Not to mention, she started her period:
They presented:
She sang: (Which was pretty good).
They won awards:
He won for Hip-hop: (Notice his crazy eyes... notice the crazy eyes).
This A-hole showed up and took the mic from the brilliant Swift:So she sang her face off and rocked the streets of NYC to slam Kanye's stupidity.
Pink and Shakira showed up wearing the same dress-
Pink preformed "Sober" while blind-folded and a good 50 feet or so in the air.
The beautiful Alicia Keys preformed with Jay Z ... which was tons better than expected; although I'd prefer her just at the piano.
Now it's time for the Queen of the night and industry:

She did the ICONIC "single ladies" with a good 50 or so women. It blew my mind.

Then, if the lady wasn't good enough, she wins her award, give up her speech, and shares the stage with the new rising talent. "Hello Classy?" Yes, it's for you Beyonce.
And how could I end a post about VMA's as Helen's fiance without giving this lady a shout out for her win for best Pop video of the year:

Heartless Kanye; Beyonce's Halo

Tonight on MTV's Video Music Awards (VMAs) I saw the heartlessness Kanye sings about.

Here's the rundown: Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, and Pink were all up for the VMA Female Video of the Year. In a shocking upset, Taylor Swift beat out the industry's heavy hitters, telling Lady Gaga she loved her while walking up to accept her award for her music video "You Belong With Me". Obviously stunned by her win, Taylor begins her speech explaining she never thought she would win a VMA and that as a country singer the award meant a lot to her. This is when the ish hit the fan.

Kanya takes the mic from Taylor, and says that Beyonce's video was the best video and then after shrugging his shoulders, he walks off the stage. Taylor is ushered off stage and not able to finish her speech.

People offer a standing ovation as she exits, and Kanye is booed (then and when his nomination is read later in the show). Tweets from artists in the audience begin to flood in.

John Rich (Country star of Big & Rich) “KanyeWest is a lowlife. He needs to have his @@@ kicked in the middle of the stage right now! What a piece of @@@@!!! Go TAYLOR SWIFT.”

Pink chimed in, “Kanye west is the biggest piece of s– on earth. Quote me.”

And Katy Perry summed it up pretty well, “F– U KANYE. IT'S LIKE U STEPPED 0N A KITTEN.”

However, in the midst of such classlessness, Beyonce's angelic halo is ever apparent. After winning the largest award of the night for her "Single Ladies", Beyonce tells the audience, "I remember being 17 years old up for my first MTV award with Destiny's Child, and it was one of the most exciting moments in my life. So I'd like for Taylor to come out and have her moment." Taylor emergest from backstage, delivers the rest of her remarks thanking her fans and friends, and then walks off the stage with Beyonce, arm in arm.

At the beginning of the show, one might mistakenly think that the music industry was full of base, uncontrolled, indulgent characters who showed no regard for morality, decency, or class. However, Beyonce shines as the Queen of the evening, showing grace, generosity, and the same phenomenal character we've grown so accustom to. It's fitting that the show would end with a superstar, showing the heartless what the industry is all about.

I am Gleek

Move over Breakfast Club, the new craze people are talking about is Glee Club! I know a lot of people don't really know a whole lot about Glee, but it's a breath of fresh air! Combining great music and dancing with intelligent humor and current issues in society. It is the story of a high school show choir (glee club) at the fictional William McKinley High School set in Lima, Ohio. Fox picked up the show after only 15 hours of reading the script, and riding on the success of shows like So You Think You Can Dance, and American Idol, Glee has swept the nation by storm.

Need to catch up? Click here for a great review by the Los Angeles Times. Next week guest stars Josh Groban, as Will (director of Glee club) forms an all male acapella group (the "Acafellas"). Here are some of the great clips from the show which gives a great feel for the talent this cast is exposing!

Nanosophobia- or so it's called.

People who know me know I have a slight phobia of midgets (also called Nanosophobia- which is funny because it just makes me think of an iPod Nano, although that name didn't appear on wikipedia, so it's validity is highly suspect). I don't want to get into the doctrinal reason I believe they should stay the H away from me, but I'll just say one time, one of 'em tried to bite me, and after that I was done with them. I know it makes no sense- they're people too (or so I've been told). Now don't get all offended if your cousin's friend's brother's sister-in-law is a midge, I'm not trying to be offensive. Phobias are rarely rational, and I mean no harm in speaking my feelings. They just freak the H out of me.

After watching this past season of Big Brother, I have thought about how cool it would be to be on that show. I don't know if I would do really well, but I think I could play the game in a way that other people wouldn't totally hate me. I've given the game much thought, until last night. Here's what happened. (you can skip till about 4 minutes into it to get what's going on).

Nuff said. I don't want to sound like a jerk, but cross off BB from my list of potential television shows I could star in. I need a shower.
